PEOPLE OF DENTON IS BACK!

It has been months since I’ve ventured the streets looking for interesting people to photograph. It started because I got too busy with school and Short Film Club, and it continued because I wanted to plan a grand return. As days turned into weeks, thinking through the perfect event to kick things off, and making big plans for what all I could do with this project, I have seen plenty of interesting folks that I wish I had photographed, and wondered what their stories may be.

Today I realized the mindset preventing me from bringing this project back was the same mindset that prevented me from starting this project 3 years ago. Well that stops now. Life is short, and there are far too many interesting people with interesting stories, and I plan to meet as many as possible.

And so without further ado, I would like to announce to you…

PEOPLE OF DENTON IS BACK!

If you see me around town, stop me and ask for a picture.

This is a film very near & dear to my heart, about a technology that can capture any 15 minutes from your life exactly the way you experienced it, but you can only capture a single memory. The story is about a terminally ill young girl trying to decide what moment from her short life she should capture forever.

This will be my last film as a student at UNT, I’m making it with the help of people from Short Film Club. This is by far the most ambitious film I have ever directed, and I have an incredibly talented cast & crew to help me.

Please check out the video, share it with friends, and donate if possible.

Sorry I’ve been absent lately. I’ve been very busy with UNT Short Film Club, making some amazing short films. The one I’m most excited about is Remoriam, which I wrote 2 years ago, and am finally getting the chance to direct.

I feel this is the most important short film I’ve ever made in my 10 years of being a filmmaker, and I sincerely hope you will watch our video and donate to the film. It would mean so much to me. Thank you!

Are you graduating this year?

I am indeed. Graduating on May 10th. That’s partly why I’ve been so busy and unable to give this blog the full attention it deserves.

I’ll still be living in Denton after that, and more able to photograph people away from the UNT campus.

Alexandra Lucas.
The other day when Erin & I were standing in line at Denton Thrift, she recognized the girl in front of us as x_andra_ from Instagram, and said hello.
Today, Erin asked her if she’d like to meet us on the Square to photograph her for People of Denton. I’m glad she did. This girl is hands down the best black & white instagrammer in Denton. Check out her stuff.
